Dante — The Starter

Play this build from zero

You just got Dante and have never built a caster. No Platinum required. This is the loadout you play while you learn what the four verses actually do.

Time to a playable copy

Same day you craft Dante, if you already own common mods like Intensify and Stretch.

First mission to practice in

A Defense (Hydron on Sedna if you have it, or any Earth/Mars Defense) so enemies come to you while you press buttons.

Before you start

Put it on the Warframe

First mission — press these buttons

1. 1

   Load into a Defense and stand near the pod

   You want a room that fills with enemies so you can see pages, Overguard, and Slash ticks without sprinting. Hydron on Sedna is the classic. Any Defense works.

   You will know it worked when: Enemies spawning in waves. You are not in a hurry.

2. 2

   Write Triumph — this is your survivability

   2→2→4

   Press 2. A circle of light. A Light page appears. Press 2 again. Second Light page. Press 4. Dante reads. You and nearby allies get a fat yellow bar on top of health and shields. That yellow bar is Overguard. Recast this whenever it is about to expire, or whenever the yellow bar is gone.

   You will know it worked when: Yellow bar on your health. A story duration timer. If 4 is greyed out, you do not have two pages — write them again.

3. 3

   Write Pageflight before you shoot

   3→2→4

   Press 3 (Dark page), then 2 (Light page), then 4. Three invulnerable birds appear. They slap enemies, draw aggro, and make your statuses hit harder. You just spent your pages — Triumph is no longer up as a story, but the Overguard it already gave you stays until it is damaged off.

   You will know it worked when: Three book-birds flying around. Enemies turning to slap them instead of you.

4. 4

   Stack Slash, then detonate Tragedy

   3→3→4

   Press 3 at a crowd. Two quill strokes, guaranteed Slash. Press 3 again at the same crowd. Press 4. Tragedy detonates leftover Slash (and Heat/Toxin if you primed with a pistol). Things in the cone fall over.

   You will know it worked when: Damage numbers jumping from small Slash ticks to one large burst. If nothing dies, you detonated too early — slash needs a second to sit on the target.

5. 5

   Draw the book when a heavy needs to die

   1

   Press 1. Your secondary is now Noctua. Hold fire. Pages fly and split into seekers. Alt-fire (middle mouse / the alt-fire button) dumps a Radiation blast when the meter is full. Press 1 again to put it away. Kills with the book scan enemies into the Codex — that is the passive.

   You will know it worked when: A tome in your hands. Infinite ammo. Enemies you have fully scanned take more status from you.

6. 6

   The habit

   Triumph when the yellow bar is hungry. Pageflight when you want to gun. Tragedy when a crowd is already slashed. Never press 4 on zero pages. Energy empty? Pick up orbs, or just melee for a second. You do not have Blind Rage yet, so this should feel comfortable.

   You will know it worked when: You stop looking at the keyboard and start looking at page icons.

Common mistakes

• Pressing 4 with no pages

  Nothing happens. Write two verses first. Light+Light, Dark+Dark, or one of each. Order matters.

• Spending all your energy on Noctua

  The book costs energy per shot. If Triumph is down and you are dry, you will die like any caster. Holster, orb, recast 2-2-4.

• Skipping Casting Speed shards “until later”

  Later is now. One Amber is already a different Warframe.

When this feels easy

2. 2When you have Blind Rage and Preparation, graduateThat is Overguard God, the next build in this list. Keep this config. You will still use it on a fresh copy or a fun taxi.
